What Is Oculoplastics
Ophthalmic plastic surgery (more commonly referred to as oculoplastic surgery) is a specialized field of medicine that combines the microsurgery of ophthalmology with the cosmetic principles of plastic surgery. This particular branch of ophthalmology focuses on plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, tear ducts, and ocular orbits, along with cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and brows. Oculoplastic surgeons also perform aesthetic procedures off the face with injectables like BOTOX or Dysport, and facial fillers like Restalyne or Juvederm.
Your eyelids and the structures around your eyes are vital for healthy vision. Wilmington Eye is proud to have an oculoplastic surgeon that offers advanced functional and aesthetic treatments and services that promote oculofacial rejuvenation and treat these important components of your vision. Our fellowship trained, board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. Alan Oester, Jr., MD, FACS, specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face and eyelids, performing a wide range of procedures.
